The life of butterfly  from egg  to butterfly
BUTTERFLIES ARE INSECTS
Butterflies grow and develop is very special. The life of butterfly  from egg  to butterfly is amazing. Butterflies develops going through  different   stages, egg, larva (caterpillar), chrysalis and butterfly.Butterflies have the typical four-stage insect life cycle. Winged adults lay eggs on the food plant on which their larvae, known as caterpillars, will feed. The caterpillars grow, sometimes very rapidly, and when fully developed pupate in a chrysalis. When metamorphosis is complete, the pupal skin splits, the adult insect climbs out and, after its wings have expanded and dried, it flies off.

Butterfly larvae, caterpillars, have a hard  head with strong mandibles used for cutting their food, most often leaves.
BUTTERFLIES WINGS
The wings of butterflies are transparent . Although butterflies are some of the most colorful insects, their wings are formed of multiple layers that are so thin that you can see through them.

Butterflies need heat emitted by the sun in order to fly . Butterflies are cold-blooded, and to soar require heat.

LIFE OF BUTTERFLIES
Most butterflies live no more than a few weeks, but there are species that can live up to several months.
Some butterflies can fly with a speed of 50km an hour or faster.
It is said that butterflies can distinguish only three colors: red, green and yellow. However, some species of butterflies can see ultraviolet light (UV).

In the world, there are over 24,000 species of butterflies.Butterflies in their adult stage can live from a week to nearly a year depending on the species. Some butterfly  has the longest life, 9 to 10 months.
LARGEST BUTTERFLY

The largest butterfly in the world is Queen Alexandra butterfly.
Butterflies can not hear but can feel vibrations. They smell with their antennas.
Female butterflies are generally larger than male butterflies and can usually outlive male butterflies.
EGGS OF BUTTERFLIES
Butterfly eggs are protected by a hard-ridged outer layer of shell. Many females produce between one hundred and two hundred eggs.Butterfly eggs are fixed to a leaf with a special glue which hardens rapidly.Eggs are almost invariably laid on plants. Each species of butterfly has its own hostplant range and while some species of butterfly are restricted to just one species of plant. The egg stage lasts a few weeks in most butterflies, but eggs laid close to winter, especially in temperate regions, go through a resting stage, and the hatching may take place only in spring. Some temperate region butterflies, such as the Camberwell beauty, lay their eggs in the spring and have them hatch in the summer.
