Monkey a cute animal

Monkey is a cute animal. Monkeys are a large group of mammals . They are almost all day-active animals. Their faces are usually flat and rather human in appearance, their eyes point forward, and they have stereoscopic color vision. Their hands and feet are highly developed for grasping; the big toes . They live in trees, grasslands, forests, mountains and plains.  There are about 200 species of monkeys. The vast majority of species live in tropical forests, where they move on all four limbs. Monkeys have large brains and are known for their inquisitiveness and intelligence. Monkeys have large brains and are known for their inquisitiveness and intelligence. Most are good at solving complex problems and learning from experience. They can use stones to crack nuts.

Due to their high levels of intelligence and sociability, monkeys are usually kept in pairs or groups. Many monkey species are tree-dwelling , although there are species that live primarily on the ground, such as baboons. Most species are mainly active during the day . Monkeys are generally considered to be intelligent, especially the Old World monkeys.

Monkeys are highly social animals, and almost all live in troops consisting of several females with young and either a single male    or several males. Like humans and apes, female monkeys nurse their young and have a menstrual cycle.  Some species breed all year round but some  have a period several months long during which they experience no sexual cycles. They can also spread diseases that are deadly to humans, including viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. It is common for monkeys to carry tuberculosis, hepatitis and simian herpes B. Monkeys are primates. They can live for between 10 and 50 years. Monkeys have tails, apes don't. Like humans, monkeys have unique fingerprints. These monkeys sleep an average of 9.5 hours. They sleep on branches.

Species

There are at least 264 species of monkeys. The exact lifespan varies widely depending on the species, diet and predators in the area. Monkeys in the wild can hunt, hunt for their own food and can become a victim of diseases or weather conditions. They range from 15 to 45 years depending on the species. Proteins of monkeys and monkeys have a life expectancy of 15-20 years. Macaques have a life expectancy of about 25 years. Capuchins have a life expectancy of about 45 years.

Two groups

There are two large groups, family of monkeys: Old World monkeys  and New World monkeys .

Monkeys  two main groups;

 Old World and New World.

Old World monkeys all belong to one family. The New World monkeys are the platyrrhines , a group comprising five families. New World and Old World  monkeys are distinguished by the form of the nose. New World monkeys have broad noses with a wide septum. While  Old World monkeys have narrow noses with a thin septum.  Old World monkeys have hard, bare “sitting pads”  on the buttocks; Many species have cheek pouches for holding food, and many have thick pads  on the buttocks. The Old World monkeys, sometimes called true monkeys, are more closely related to the apes and humans

New World monkeys lack these. Many Old World monkeys have thumbs that can be opposed to the other fingers and so can handle small objects precisely. In a few species, the thumb is reduced or even absent.  Old World monkeys include many that are often seen in zoos. Most the thumb is lacking. They have widely separated nostrils that tend to point outward, they lack cheek pouches. Adults of most New World species have 36 teeth.

Reproduction or gestation

A baby monkey is called an infant. Their gestation period is four to five months.  Monkeys reproduce without human interference. females may give birth every year, or every other year. Their gestation period, the length of time they carry the baby before giving birth, is about five to six months. Female monkeys will stop mating until there are better circumstances for getting pregnant. Even when conditions are right, a mother will only give birth once every two years. Old World monkeys usually have one baby at a time.

Monkeys take care of the young by feeding, grooming and protecting them. Most monkeys are social and live in groups called troops.

Twins are extremely rare among  Old World monkeys, because each baby takes a lot of time, energy, and food to rear. The twins have different fathers, researchers discovered after performing paternity tests on the monkeys.

Smaller monkeys become sexually mature around 18 to 24 months. The young monkey should not normally be separated from its mother at an early age but should remain in contact for one year to 18 months, in most species. In some species,

Newborn monkeys fully rely on their mothers until the age of 5, until they enter the young stage of development. The teenage period of monkeys usually begins at about 8 years, and sexual maturity comes at the age of about 16 years.

monkeys used in research

Every year thousands of monkeys are  in laboratories. In laboratories, Human biology and disease can be studied in Monkeys because they are very similar to humans.  They have similar brains, muscle structure and reproductive and immune systems. This means research with monkeys give us results which are more relevant to humans. Monkeys are complex animals with complex needs, they are only used when it is absolutely necessary.

Monkeys see in color and have binocular vision, like us. This makes them particularly useful for research into vision.

They were used to show whether potential vaccines were effective and safe. Only after animals testing were vaccines trialled in humans.  This has helped scientists come up with new treatments for  diseases.

Food and diet

Most monkeys eat both plants and animals. Some also eat dirt. Monkeys peel their bananas like humans and do not eat the skins.  They use branches to capture food, use leaves as gloves, smash nuts with rocks, remove spines and hairs from caterpillars by rubbing them against branches and use large branches to club snakes. Monkeys are omnivores and will eat anything.

Entertainment industry

Animals used in film, television, advertising . They are highly intelligent and sensitive animals. they're at a zoo, on a film set, or under a circus tent, monkeys used as entertainment , they perform  tasks through  training methods.

Life span

The life-span of monkeys varies from 15 years for the Black howler to 45 years for the Guinea baboon. Monkeys usually live 40 to 50 years in the wild.   The monkeys were divided into 3 groups based on their specific life histories.

Group I monkeys were wild-born and were housed singly from the time they came into captivity at about 2 years of age.

Group II monkeys were born either in the wild or in captivity and were housed in social groups since  at ages 2 to 8 years.

Group III monkeys were born at the YRPRC and housed in social groups. Due to these differences in life histories,  only 6.2% of monkeys in this group attaining an age beyond 30 years.

Depends on the type of monkey. Some of the greater apes (gorillas, orangutans and such) live to around 40 years in captivity. Smaller monkeys live for 15–20.

Mandrill: 20 years

Black howler: 15 – 20 years

Japanese macaque: 27 years

Guinea baboon: 35 – 45 years

Lion-tailed macaque: 20 years

Black-mantled tamarin: 15 years

Pygmy marmoset: 12 years
