Fish have been on the Earth for over 500 million years, before  the dinosaurs roamed on the planet. In some species the males and females have different shaped bodies or different coloring; in other species there is no visible difference.

 Fish belong to one of the six general animal groups which are: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. Fish are animals that have brains and can feel pain. There are lots of different kinds of fish, which are different in size and shape  from each others. All fish live in water and have gills, scales and fins. 

There are three catagories of fish

Bony fish – Like tuna and salmon

Cartilaginous fish – Like sharks and rays

Jawless fish – Hagfish and lampreys

Almost all natural bodies of water bear fish life. Fishes found in mountain torrents, Arctic lakes, tropical lakes, temperate streams, and tropical rivers will all differ from each other. Many fishes have a streamlined body and swim freely in open water. All fish live in water and they have a backbone and they are vertebrates. Whale sharks, the largest fish, give birth to live young.  According to fossil records, they have been on Earth for more than 500 million years. 


A fish is an animal which lives and breathes in water. All fish are vertebrates (have a backbone) and most breathe through gills and have fins and scales. Fish are aquatic vertebrates.  There are three classes of fish: jawless, cartilaginous, and bony. All fish have a backbone. They usually have gills, paired fins, a long body covered with scales, and tend to be cold-blooded. There are three super classes into which fish are grouped: Bony fish , jawless fish  and cartilaginous fish . All fish  cold-blooded, meaning they cannot regulate their internal body temperature.

For scientific use

 Fishes are also  valuable laboratory animals in many aspects of medical and biological research. Many fishes are cryptically colored and shaped, closely matching their respective environments. All the creatures that live in water are not fish. Fish are cold-blooded, which means their internal body temperature changes as the surrounding temperature changes. 40% of all fish species inhabit fresh water, yet less than .01% of the earth’s water is fresh water. 

Length or body mass

Fishes  length from less than 10 mm (0.4 inch) to more than 20 meters (60 feet) and in weight from about 1.5 grams (less than 0.06 ounce) to many thousands of kilograms. Some live in shallow thermal springs at temperatures. Some species of fish can fly (glide) others can skip along the surface and others can even climb rock. The largest fish is the great whale shark which can reach fifty feet in length. The smallest fish is the Philippine goby that is less than 1/3 of an inch when fully grown. Fish feel pain and suffer stress just like mammals and birds.

Fish body and feelings

Fish are unique in that they have a combination of gills and fins and that they live only in the water. While some invertebrates and amphibians have gills, some mammals and amphibians have fins and lots of animals live in water, only fish have the combination of all three attributes. Just like other animals, fish respond to painful events with changes in their behaviour and physiology. Fish learn to avoid things that cause them harm. 


Food and diet

Fish eat other fish, fish eggs, mollusks, aquatic plants, algae, zooplankton, terrestrial insects, water birds, turtles, frogs, snakes and mice. 


Reproduction

The great majority of fish  hatch  small eggs. After lying  eggs, all are scattered in the water. Newly hatched young are still partially undeveloped and are called larvae until body structures such as fins, skeleton, and some organs are fully formed. Larval life is often very short, usually less than a few weeks. but it can be very long. 

Lifespan

Many small fishes live only one to three years at the most. In some species, however, individuals may live as long as 10 or 20 or even 100 years.

The life cycle of marine fishes is comprised of four developmental stages: embryo,  egg , larva , small fish and adult. 

Fish groups

As a human food

Fish are an important resource of food. Commercial and subsistence fishers hunt fish in wild fisheries or farm them in ponds or in cages in the ocean . They are also  kept as pets, raised by fish keepers, and exhibited in public aquaria. Fish flesh of an animal and are used for food. (However, many religions don't consider it meat.)It is human's most important single source of high-quality protein. It not only contains healthy protein but also many nutrients.  So fish makes an essential contribution to a healthy diet. 

Cooking and grilling



 Fish has high content of Omega-3 . Grilled fish is better than cooked fish because it is not cooked in oil, the calorie count is lower. There are several ways to reduce the potential health risks of grilling, Always start with a lean cut of meat. and there’s no extra calories in the form of butters, heavy sauces or excess oils. 

Fish (meat) merination

The easiest way to marinate fish or any other kinds of meats and poultry is to mix yoghurt with any premade seasoning mix that can be found at local supermarkets in variety, along with crushed garlic and ginger, best if freshly crushed ginger garlic homemade paste is used for better flavor otherwise a store bought ginger garlic paste can get the job done as well.

Method

wash meat or fish

drain it

take some yoghurt

put ginger and garlic paste in it

take spices packet(seasoning mix packet)

mix all 

then mix this better in fish

put it in fridge for eight hour

now you can grill and barbeque this meat or fish

Other method

There are many methods of merinate the meat of any kind. Now we are  ready for grilled fish. Start with lemon, cumin, and a sprinkle of salt. you should choose  with an easy side like grilled veggies or a quick salad to make the ideal meal. More delicate fish, you should use grill basket for grilling it.

Grill fish in foil paper

Grilling fish in foil is the best solution for very delicate fish. It keeps the fish  in moisture and helps the heat distribute evenly. It also allows you to add in herbs and veggies in foil grilling. 


Method

fish fillet or small pieces

very small amount olive oil(one spoon)

garlic  ginger and salt

 ground black pepper

some vegetables you like to eat

Rub fish pieces with olive oil,  garlic, ginger, salt and black pepper. Place each fillet on a large sheet of aluminum foil. Arrange vegetables slices on top and sides of fillets. Carefully seal all edges of the foil to form enclosed packets. Place packets on baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the size of fish. Fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork. 


Reduce the potential health risks of grilling

There are several ways to reduce the potential health risks of grilling so you can continue to enjoy barbecue season. Always start with a lean cut of meat. Trim off any excess visible fat, and remove skin from poultry before grilling. Marinate meats before grilling. A marinating  meat before grilling is mighty health-promoting task, it will also imbue meats with delicious flavor, add moisture, and tenderize tougher cuts.

Add the  olive oil, lemon juice, sauce, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, garlic crushed, basil leaves, parsley leaves, salt and pepper to a blender. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds or so, until thoroughly mixed.

Place meat in a shallow dish, pour marinade over the meat, Mix well and  cover,  refrigerate it for at least two hours and up to eight, you can keep this process before day to grilling. This citrus and herb marinade works equally well on fish or chicken (ANY KIND OF MEAT)for the grill. 

Most  meats like beef, pork and Chicken meat do marinate for at least 8 to 12 hours, while fish and veggies require only 60-120 minutes. 

Antioxidant foods

Eating more antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables is a great habit to get into, and they grill up very well.  Grilled fruits and vegetables  with meat, fish or poultry to enjoy their many health benefits. Grilled veggie dishes are healthy. 


Smaller portions will cook faster and spend less time on the grill under unfavorable conditions. Cook the meat separately from the vegetables (and fruit). This allows both food types to cook under the ideal heat and time. 

Never eat under cooked food

Undercooked meat, improperly prepared meat can all lead to a nasty case of food poisoning. If the meat isn’t cooked to a certain internal temperature, the bacteria remain vital and can end up your intestinal tract – with symptoms like vomiting, excessive sweating, stomach cramps and diarrhea as a result.


Fish oil for human health(supplement)



Fish oil is best source of omega 3  and Omega-3 fish oil contains  fatty acids and essential nutrients that are important in preventing  heart disease. Taking more than 3 grams of fish oil daily may increase the risk of bleeding. Fish oil supplements are also available for those who do not like fish. 

The AHA says taking up to 3 grams of fish oil daily in supplement form is considered safe.  Fish oil side effects include heartburn, loose stools, and nosebleeds. Taking fish oil supplements with meals or freezing them can reduce these issues.

 Many people use fish oil and omega-3 supplements because they believe that they have health benefits. Some evidence suggests that getting an adequate intake of omega-3 may help protect eye health.
